The Sweetness was born October 16th, 2006 at 5:25pm Via C-Section!
I
had been dealing with low amniotic fluid and pre-term labor starting at
about 28 weeks. At my 36 week appointment the Dr. decided to check my
fluid levels. During the ultrasound they did a test where they check to
see if baby is making breathing movements, has a strong heartbeat,
enough fluid, and if baby is moving. The breathing movements and
heartbeat were fine, but the fluid was extremely low and she wasn't
moving at all. The lady was doing everything she could to try and get
her to move- but nothing was working. She didn't really say much to me
and had a worried look on her face. She went and got the Dr. and he came
back and said he was going to send me to the hospital so they could run
the test too. I was standing right next to him when he called over. He
said, "I'm sending Tiffany Schmidt over for a (whatever the test was
called) and a possible c-section at noon" oh my heck...I almost passed
out!!
At the hospital they did the test again and my fluid was low, not quite as low as the other tech had measured, but still pretty low. The Dr decided that since the fluid was low and because the cord was wrapped all around her it was best to take her that day! Yikes!
I was so scared sitting on the table in the freezing cold operating room waiting to get the spinal. I have never been that terrified in my life! It ended up not being so bad though. As they were prepping me I just kept saying, "Please please please don't forget to bring my mom in". When I was already to get they got my mom and cut me right open! And a few minutes later The Sweetness was screaming her head off!
